Destination Wedding Photographer ◆ Iceland ◆ Meena + Owen

New York-based musicians Meena and Owen fell in love with Iceland while touring the country a few summers ago.  After getting engaged there, they decided it would be the perfect place for their wedding.  And being the adventurous souls they are, they decided that Vigur -- a tiny island about 30 minutes by boat from the mainland of Ísafjörður -- was the perfect place for their celebration.

But when an unexpected summer storm hit the area (locals described it as the worst in thirty years), transportation to the island was shut down, forcing them to replan their entire wedding in 24 hours.  Luckily, they were able to find a library to hold the ceremony and a ski lodge that was large enough to accommodate all their guests.

What ensued was an emotional and intimate first look, a most dramatic processional featuring a chorus of their closest musician friends and colleagues, a ceremony conducted by a famous Icelandic druid (beer-filled horn included), and a dance party that lasted till morning.  The day was nothing but smiles and happy tears, as the unfavorable weather became a long-gone afterthought.

It was also a reminder for me that when you strip away all the fancy details of a wedding day, you’re left with the most important part: cherished family and friends, cheering you on as you begin your new life together.

Meena and Owen -- words are not enough to describe how special it was to photograph your wedding.  Although I joke that it was the most challenging one I’ve ever shot, looking back I’m so thankful I got to experience it with you.  Thank you for the opportunity to photograph your most epic adventure together.  Much love to you both!

NYC Wedding Photographer ◆ Central Park ◆ Giorgia + Marco

The beautiful weather we've been having in New York has me reminiscing about a sweet and intimate wedding I photographed right about this time last year. Giorgia and Marco traveled all the way from Italy to share their special day with their closest family and friends right in the heart of Central Park. It was one of those perfect New York afternoons on one of the last days of summer. Enjoy the long weekend everyone! xo
